The Adventures of Grandma

by Amaris Rose

Once upon a time there was a girl named Amaris. Her and her grandma would do a lot of fun stuff together. They would walk on the beach, have picnics, and pick blueberries. Well, one day they went to a forest to look for some blueberries when they unknowingly found some that were magical. The master of Gandla had been watching them for some time now - waiting for someone to pick them. Those magic berries were said to change time and could save the world. But who wanted it to be saved? Finally, he could go after them for he was very much into evil deeds.

At home, grandma put the magic berries away while Amaris got herself some milk to go with some strawberries. There was a knock on the door which startled Amaris and made her drop her milk. “Great!” she said. While grandma went to see who was at the door, Amaris replaced her milk and snuck a chocolate bar. She took a bite to see what it tasted like – oh, she felt like she gushed in to heaven! – o h, she wanted more!

At the door was an old man. He asked, “Would you like this fresh picked corn? I’ve got a pound extra for you.” Grandma said, “Yes. Oh come in dear you must be cold! I will make you a fresh cup of hot coco. Go ahead and rest deary while I will go up stairs and make you a bed.” After she made his drink, grandma went upstairs and made him a bed. He thanked her and then later acted like he was going to bed with his cup of coco. However, he secretly got up and stole the blue berries along with his hot coco then ran! Well, of course you can see he forgot the corn.

The next day Amaris and her grandma went to go get the blue berries for breakfast, but they could not find them! They searched everywhere inside so they went outside to look. They did not know he had a magic trap and grandma fell right into it and disappeared. Amaris yelled, “GRANDMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” but there was no response. With nothing else to do, Amaris jumped in and yelled, “AWWWWAWWWW!” but thought, “This is crazy! My very first adventure!”

Well this pit was so long that’s she had time to think of ways she could have more adventures; so you can imagine this pit was 1,000 feet. FINALLY she hit ground, “YAY! Wait ow…” she said as she rolled down a couple of stairs and landed on someone. This was not granny, it was too skinny. Gently she got up and saw a young, really skinny…. Is it a boy? .... No, wait! It’s a girl! She exclaimed as she helped the girl stand up. The girl said, “wwwwwwwhhaattttttt…… arree yyoouuu doing here?” Amaris replayed by saying, “What are you doing here? This is making no sense!” MAY I REMIND YOU IT WAS A YOUNG GIRL!

Dusting herself off, Amaris walked up to her and asked, “How did you get here? When did you get here? How long as this pit been here? Is my grandma here? Or is she stuck in a tunnel south from here?” The girl got defensive with all the questions and replied, “If you’re talking about my grandma you have a big mouth!” Amaris said, “My grandma, not yours. She fell in this pit a few minutes before I did.” The girl said, “I fell an hour ago.” Amaris felt like screaming, “WERE IS MY GRANDMA!” but instead she walked away leaving the trail and headed towards a tunnel that had no trail.

What she had done was go south, but there was nothing south except for a small tiny hole leading behind a house to a door. “Where does it lead?” Amaris wondered. Now you readers are probably thinking it’s going to lead to a magical land, that it’s a portal to another world or something, but it only lead to a room. Haha I fooled you! This room was special though.

Somehow the room reminded Amaris of her mother’s room, but her mom had passed away 5 years earlier when she was 8. With more thought she decided that this was definitely her mom’s room, but her grandma was in it. Wait! That’s not her grandmother! That is her MOM! Somehow, she felt like she was 6 living in a cottage again. Then her mom turned around and said these words these specific words,” I LOVE YOU HONEY!!!!!!” She remembered that time, it was the first time her mom had said it like that. Amaris felt like this was not right, so she shut the door. A small tear struck her face. She tried to hold it back, but another tear leaked onto her face. Then suddenly, tears kept striking down her face until her eyes spotted a small watch that was moving backwards in time.

Hesitantly, Amaris was about to pick up the watch when a man, that was at least 25, walked up to her and said, “I don’t think you should do that.” Amaris said, “Why? He replied by saying that, “The watch can reverse time. If you leave it alone you can see your mom again.” Amaris wanted to say, “Yes!” Because seeing her mom alive again she would do anything for. However, Amaris said, “No.” This was because she knew that if she saw her mom again, she would see her die and that would be too hard.

The man gave her a fierce look but then the other young girl appeared and told him, “You have been down here for a long time. You may need to go back up.” He replied, “No! I’m perfectly fine down here.” Then he snickered and went off. Amaris was wondering where he was going and what was going on when the young girl became her grandma. She looked at Amaris’ and said, “We are in great danger.”

Now you know what Amaris was thinking, “HOW ARE WE IN DANGER?!” But then grandma grabbed her hand and together they started to run. They weren’t fast enough and then Amaris’ grandma’s body suddenly turned into that of a horse with Amaris on her back. Looking down was a weird thing to see. Reader, have you ever seen your grandma act like a horse? Anyways continuing. Still they were not fast enough and then Amaris looked up and saw wings! They were not big beautiful wings like you would expect, but were small wimpy wings that made Amaris laugh. Then the strange women looked down at her and asked, “Why do you laugh?” She smiled and said, “Because ummmm………….” Then those little wings zipped them faster than light and laughter.

Her grandma had a minor problem. Amaris realized that she had the watch with her. She asked, “Can I see the watch?” Her grandma handed it to her and said, “Fine, but don’t break it.” “Okay,” she said then Amaris forwarded it once. Instantly, her granny appeared right, but they were still standing in the tunnel somewhere. The adventure was not over yet. “What could be stopping this?” Amaris thought as she looked around her in disappointment. That’s when she saw the blueberries at the feet of the man.

“BLUEBERRIES! I KNOW WHAT IS STOPPING US!!!!!” Amaris whispered to her granny. Amaris walked over to the man and said, “…………423467.” “Is that a puzzle?” he said. “Maybe,” replied Amaris with a snicker. That’s when he said, “You do not know the powers that lie beneath the ground! Beneath these blueberries are the hands of the world. You cannot stop me from taking over the world!”

Amaris was now a bit frightened. She looked at her grandma and gave her a small smile, but her grandma took it the wrong way. Her grandma started pulling a baseball bat out of her purse?! Amaris ducked as she took a swing at him. He cried out and scrambled away falling, “WHAT IS HER PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!” Grandma said, “Quick Amaris! Squash the blueberries!” as she chased him further away. Amaris did squash one like toast but then realized that something was not right.

“Oh, WE NEED THE BLUE BERRIES,” but Amaris sounded like a wolf. Gathering the ones that were not squashed and digging up the one that was; she howled to her grandma and together they climbed up the tunnel leaving the man behind. With a smile and a laugh, grandma made a potion from the blueberries, which she sprinkled on the ground properly. The very next day everything was back to normal and they danced and cried, “WWWOOOHHHOOO!” Later Amaris thought, “What should be my next Adventure?”

The End.
